!!! THANK YOU !!!

The 2011 heartland tour was our biggest year yet. We had over 2000 participants, half of which were youth! What an amazing turnout. That equates to 1000 adults and 1000 kids who have made a conscious decision to live healthier lives - significantly reducing their risk for many chronic diseases. Way to go!!!

We would like to extend a huge "Thank You" for the generous support of our many sponsors, including The Province of Nova Scotia, Easlink, BMO, Subway, Scotsburn, O'Regans ... Please have a look at the list to the right. The support of theses businesses and organizations make the Heartland Tour possible.

Also, a sincere THANK YOU to everyone who joined us in July. YOU are the reason for the Heartland Tour! Healthy hearts and Healthy communities go hand in hand, so please spread our message and recommend our web site to your friends.

The Message

So, what is our message? ... CHANGE. Change what?

In a nutshell, Nova Scotia has one of the highest rates of heart disease in Canada. Our healthcare system cannot afford to continue as it is. We, as a province, must change:

  • Change our lifestyles to include better nutrition and more activity
  • Change the healthcare system to place more emphasis on preventing chronic disease
  • Change our childrens' education to give them the tools that will help them make healthier lifestyle choices - choices that will benefit them for decades to come.
  • Change public policy to increase funding for programs and facilities that promote a healthy lifestyle
